The application of chemical weed killers to keep paved surfaces weed-free is completely forbidden from 2018. The MCB-Twin from Empas provides the perfect balance between weed control and the lowest possible costs.
RMN decided to switch to the hot water method to combat weeds on paved surfaces back in 2008. Since then, RMN (Central Netherlands Cleaning Company) has purchased several machines. ‘The Empas units stand head and shoulders above competitors' machines because they are easier to operate. This means that new workers are able to more quickly get the hang of it,’ says Murk. ‘Moreover, the water in the Empas unit gets up to temperature faster. That keeps down the costs.’ Murk reckons this makes the Empas units the most cost-effective.
In order to effectively combat weeds on paved surfaces, it is important that all the activities are well planned, Murk explains. ‘To begin with, you have to have the sweeping routes well under control. Only once you’ve achieved that can you better control weed growth in paved areas. There are many ways of keeping those paved surfaces weed-free. Anyone looking for an easy-to-use unit that utilises boiling water to nip the weeds in the bud would be wise to consider the Empas MCB series.’
